  4. Although John Mayall has released a steady flow of excellent recordings throughout his career his finest period is without doubt the mid to late 60's. This album was a concept album featuring Bare Wires suite. The musicianship is brilliant throughout! Sound quality is superb and this edition contains several excellent bonus cuts. Highly /5(67).

The album was the last John Mayall studio album to feature the name "Bluesbreakers". The album was also Mayall's first successful U.S. album reaching #59 on the Billboard It was voted number in the third edition of Colin Larkin's All Time Top Albums.

  8. Bare Wires is certainly Mayall's most unusual album, and in many ways his finest. In addition to the standard blues fare for which he is famous it includes strange and brooding experimental numbers like Bare Wires, Fire, I Know Now, and Sandy/5(42).
