  2. Mar 29,  · My Escape also rusted on the door pinch weld area and I'm from coastal NC so only the occasional brine on the roads. I read somewhere online that it is the dip they use on the metal not getting completely cleaned off before painting. The first door I bought a touch up pen and used my dremmel and sandpaper to clean it.
